This project provides a new, detached, two story garage, adjacent to a historic Italianate style farmhouse. The design of the garage takes its cues from the historic home and the agricultural heritage of the site and surrounding area. The first floor of the 3-bay garage provides parking for two vehicles, a wood shop and a metal shop. The second floor includes a craft studio and recreation space. The RKA Team and our client studied historic barns and outbuildings to provide inspiration for the exterior form and fenestration of this highly functional, and architecturally contextual, new structure.
